FIREFIGHTER WILLIAM FERGUSON of the Page (AZ) Fire Department has been named the 1996 Firefighter of the Year by United Fire of Tucson for rescuing a blind, elderly neighbor whose mobile home was on fire. Ferguson responded directly from his home early in the morning and entered the neighbor`s home without protective gear. He received $4,000 in cash and prizes, and his department received a $500 credit toward purchases from United Fire, a distributor of fire service equipment.
