- ADAM THIEL has been named the deputy chief of emergency services for the Goodyear (AZ) Fire Department. Previously, he was the executive director of the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, where he worked for 21/2 years.
- BRADLEY J. AUSTIN has won the 2004 Fire Apparatus Manufacturers Association Scholarship. Enrolled in the Oklahoma State University School of Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Program, Austin is interested in fire investigation, fire modeling programs, and other aspects of fire dynamics aimed at improving firefighters’ efficiency and safety. Firefighters in his family include his father, uncle, grandfather, two great-uncles, a great-great-uncle, and great-grandfather. The FAMA Scholarship Subcommittee’s goals are to reinforce FAMA’s relationship with noted universities, support worthy fire protection students, and provide the FAMA membership with supplementary research data.
