DENNIS COMPTON was awarded the Dr. John Granito Award for Excellence in Fire Leadership and Management Research by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). Compton is chairman of the NFFF’s Board of Directors and a former chief for the Mesa (AZ) Fire Department and assistant chief for the Phoenix (AZ) Fire Department. Compton has served as chairman of the executive board of the International Fire Service Training Association and as chairman of the Congressional Fire Services Institute’s National Advisory Committee. He is a past recipient of the George D. Post National Fire Service Instructor of the Year Award and was named the American Fire Sprinkler Association Fire Service Person of the Year in 2000.
