E. JAMES MONIHAN, a 32-year member of the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) Board of Directors, died on July 18. Monihan became the NVFC’s director from Delaware in 1977, was NVFC chairman of the executive and legislative committees from 1979 to 1991, and represented the NVFC on both the Congressional Fire Services Institute’s National Advisory Committee and National Fire Protection Association standards committee. Monihan was also a life member of the Lewes (DE) Fire Department, a life member of the Cranston Heights (DE) Fire Company, an honorary member of the Bethany Beach (DE) Volunteer Fire Company, and a past president and active member of the Delaware Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
