Live-In Fire Science Studies

Live-In Fire Science Studies

Students seeking a fire protection career may live in a county fire/rescue station rent free in Montgomery County, Md. In exchange, they train and serve as volunteer fire fighters and EMTs while earning an associate degree in fire science from Montgomery (Md.) College, in cooperation with the Montgomery County Fire/Rescue Service.

As a live-in volunteer, one may qualify for in-county tuition and also for reimbursement of tuition through a state program. The two-year program covers a range of fire service and rescue subjects and may be applied towards a degree at a four year institution. The academic program is conducted by Asst. Prof. Richard Ulrich, Fire Science Coord., Montgomery College, Rockville, Md. 20850.
