VA Church Erupts in Flames, Prompts School Closing



According to a report from NBC4, Arlington (VA) Fire & EMS (AFEMS) firefighters responded to Mount Olivet United Methodist Church at around 2:40 a.m. Friday and extinguished the flames. No injuries have been reported.

Special units also responded to aid in the extinguishment.

Glebe Road is blocked between 15th and 17th Streets as crews cleaned up and removed debris.

The church is also home to a preschool for dozens of children, which will now be closed for the day.

The fire marshal is on the scene and investigating what may have caused the fire.

The church suffered extensive smoke and water damage, meaning Sunday services will now be relocated.
