Three-Alarm Fire Does Major Damage to FL Church

According to a report from WFTS, a fire that began in a dumpster grew to three alarms after it severely impacted a church in Dunedin, Florida, Wednesday morning.

Dunedin Fire Department (DFD) officials said fire crews were dispatched to Coastal Christian Church on Bayshore Boulevard at around 3 a.m. Nobody was injured, but the building’s sanctuary and roof were damaged.

DFD Deputy Chief Michael Handoga said the fire spread to the church after starting in a dumpster, leaving burn marks on the side of the building.

Behind the church is Sweet Peas Preschool, but it did not suffer any damage, said DFD officials.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is now under investigation.
