Apparatus Deliveries

The Milford (MA) Fire Department uses this KME interface pumper mostly for fighting fires in the rough wooded area of its jurisdiction, says Deputy Chief Mark Nelson. The pumper is used as an attack engine in these areas, which are fed by water supply units, and the four-wheel-drive, heavy-duty front end and high-ground clearance adds to the department’s versatility during situations in adverse conditions.

The Roanoke (TX) Fire Department runs this SPARTAN ER quint primarily on fire alarm and structure fire calls, says Division Chief Doug Parks. The department has in its response area single- and multi-family dwellings as well as large retail and manufacturing/distribution warehouses. The department preferred an aerial over a platform for the ease of rescue, citing the many overhanging trees in the town. The larger water tank affords a stronger initial fire attack when the truck arrives first.

The Courtenay (British Columbia, Canada) Fire Department designed this rescue/pumper built by FORT GARRY FIRE TRUCKS for service in both urban and rural settings, explains Chief Don Bordeonnex. The large water tank helps in fighting rural fires. To protect the vehicle during winter conditions, the pump panel is enclosed behind a roll-up door and the hosebed has a hard cover. A light tower provides illumination at rescues and in remote rural areas. The department’s auto extrication coverage is from sea level to a ski resort featuring large hills.
