The North Stonington, CT, Fire Department recently placed in service this Saulsbury fast-attack pumper mounted on an 11,000pound Chevrolet chassis.

This unit is equipped with a Hale M series 750-gpm pump and 150-gallon water tank. The hose bed carries 500 feet of four-inch hose, and preconnected in the crosslays is 200 feet of 1’/2-inch hose and 200 feet of PA-inch hose.

The Pennsauken, NJ, Fire Department recently announced the delivery of its new rig, a Snorkel type apparatus, manufactured by Grumman Emergency Products. The heavy-duty 56,000-GVWR Pemfab Truck chassis model/series Maxi LP-942G is on a wheelbase of 236 inches.

Special features include: triple frame rail construction with fish plate that provides for a section modulus of 31.57, an 18,000-pound front axle, a 38,000-pound tandem rear axle with no-spin feature on forward tandem axle, and a 445-hp diesel engine.

The Boyd-Hdson-Delmar Fire District in Boyd, WI, has recently commissioned a new Darley “Challenger.” This triple-combination (pumper/tanker/hose) truck was custom-built on a Ford F800 chassis.

Its Darley Champion pump, rated at 1,000-gpm, is a three-stage midship. The booster tank has an extra-large capacity of 1,000 gallons. The hose bed also has an extra-large capacity for 1,500 feet of 2’/2-hose and 400 feet of 1’/2-inch hose.

The Fire Department of LaFollette, TN, has placed in service two Gold Standard pumpers by FMC Corporation. The units are mounted on a Kenworth L-700 chassis with six-man tilt cab. They are powered by Cummins L10-300 diesel engines and Allison HT 640 automatic transmissions.

They each have a Bean single-stage 1,250-gpm pump and 750gallon booster tank. They have side intakes only (for the pump). In the hose bed is 1,250 feet of three-inch hose.

The pumpers carry a 3.5-kw Powerguard generator and two 500watt telescoping quartz floodlights.

The Mercerville Fire Company in Hamilton Township, NJ, has placed in service an 85-foot elevating platform quint. The unit has an Emergency One body mounted on a Hahn 92 chassis with 228inch wheelbase. The Snorkel boom has a 900-pound payload capacity.

The quint is powered by a Detroit 8V92TA diesel engine with Allison HT-740-D automatic transmission. It has a Hale Model Q200 two-stage 2,000-gpm pump and a 200-gallon water tank. There is a four-inch prepiped waterway directly from the pump to the boom with a flow meter for the boom.

Sutphen Corporation is in the process of delivering 14 new stainless steel pumpers and aerial platforms to the City of Detroit, MI. The new pumpers feature a 500-gallon fiberglass L-shaped booster tank utilizing a low hose bed.

The complete body and tank rest on 5-inch and 3-inch channel steel. The stainless steel utilized is a special alloy having approximately 1/8-inch thickness.

Anoka, MN, is operating this all-aluminum bodied elevating platform quint mounted on a Pierce Arrow chassis. This unit has a Detroit 8V92-TA diesel engine with Allison HT-740 automatic transmission. It mounts a Waterous CMUYBX two-stage 1,500-gpm pump and a 110-foot all-steel aerial platform.

A 1,500-gpm nozzle is mounted on the platform fed by a fourinch water pipe. Two transverse trays mounted forward of the pump carry l1/2-inch hose.

The Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department in Carroll County MD, recently took delivery of an Omega Custom Pumper with aluminum body from FMC Corporation.

The new Omega pumper incorporates a 1,250-gpm FMC Ram single-stage pump and a 750-gallon polyethylene water tank. Mounted on a Spartan Gladiator chassis, the new unit is powered by a 370-hp Detroit diesel 8V engine, driving through an Allison HT 740 four-speed manual transmission.

Other features include two 21/2-inch L.H. and R.H. rear discharges, and a 6,000-watt Onan diesel generator.
