The Clovis (NM) Airport uses this DANKO quick-attack vehicle as a first-out unit for crash and structural fire protection, explains Clovis Fire Department Captain Rick Potter. It responds outside of the airport grounds, if needed, or if an aircraft emergency occurs off of airport property.

  • FORD F-550 XL Super Duty, 4 × 4 chassis with 209-inch wheelbase and four-seat cab;
  • FORD 6.0L Power Stroke diesel engine with automatic transmission;
  • WATEROUS E 511A single-stage, 200-gpm pump (that has separate gasoline engine) with HYPRO Foam Pro 2002 system and dual agent booster reel with WILLIAMS hydrochem nozzle, and ELKHART Sidewinder bumper turret;
  • FIRE COMBAT 500-pound Purple K dry chemical system;
  • UPF 250-gallon water and 30-gallon foam tanks;
  • ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors;

  • light and power with HONDA two-kw gasoline driven generator and two FRC midship mounted telescoping floodlights.

 

The Grassland Fire Department in Alberta, Canada, protects a rural area with a busy highway nearby. Chief Arnie Derko says the department uses this FORT GARRY FIRE TRUCKS rescue pumper in conjunction with their primary rescue truck. It is also used as a wildland pumper and responds to structure fires, backing up the department’s full-size engine.

The Roxana (IL) Fire Department set up this E-ONEpumper mainly for medical and rescue calls (including motor vehicle accidents and technical rescue), explains Chief Darryl Trask. The vehicle is also first out to vehicle fires and second out to all other type calls. It responds on mutual aid to a refinery.
