The Isleta Pueblo (NM) Fire Department protects an Indian reservation with this DARLEY mini-CAFS pumper. Rick Apgar, speaking for the tribal chief, says the jurisdiction experienced two large bosque fires (which involve wooded areas) and specified CAFS on the vehicle to handle these fires and those involving recreational vehicles and casinos located on the reservation.


Features/Equipment:

  • FORD F-550 extended cab with 162-inch wheelbase and two seats;
  • INTERNATIONAL 6.0L 325-hp diesel engine with FORD Torque Shift automatic transmission;
  • DARLEY rearmount, engine-powered HE 34 single-stage pump (500 gpm at 50 psi, 225 gpm at 125 psi, 300 gpm at 100 psi), DARLEY WildCAFS system with HYPRO Foam Pro 1601 system and 140 cfm underhood air compressor kit, ELKHART Sidewinder front bumper turret, one 2 1/2-inch discharge, two 1 1/2-inch CAFS preconnects at rear, and a one-inch midship booster line;
  • PRO POLY 500-gallon water and 25-gallon foam tanks;
  • ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors; and
  • RAMSEY four-ton, front mounted winch.

The New Minersville Volunteer Fire Company in Minersville, Pennsylvania, replaced a mini-pumper with this KME midsized pumper, used as a first-out unit with four fully equipped crew members, according to Chief Eric Andruchek. It also has a small turning radius that allows easier negotiation of many streets and alleyways.

  • GMC TC 5500 chassis with 194-inch wheelbase, four-wheel drive, and five-seat cab;
  • GMC Duramax 6.6L 300-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 1000 automatic transmission;
  • HALE MGAP single-stage, 500-gpm PTO pump with HYPRO Foam Pro 1600 foam system, TFT Crossfire monitor, two 1 3/4-inch crosslays, and 2 1/2-inch rear preconnect (all foam capable);
  • UPF 250-gallon water and 25-gallon foam tanks;
  • WARN 4.5-ton portable winch with front and rear receivers;
  • four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders; and
  • light and power with BLACK RAVEN five-kw generator (operated by crankshaft from motor), and four FRC floodlights (two pole raise, two rear tripod).

The Eureka (KS) Fire Department designed this RESCUE 1 rescue truck primarily for victim extrication from MVAs, says Chief Douglas Williams. The truck is also equipped for agriculture and oilfield incidents, rope rescue, scuba operations, SCBA, and other fireground support.

  • light and power with HARRISON 10-kw PTO generator, WILL BURT Night Scan Chief, and six WHELEN fixed scene lights on body.
