Andrews (NJ) new Congressional Caucus chairman

Congressman Robert Andrews (NJ) replaced Congressman Sherwood Boehlert (NY) as the chairman of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus (CFSC) with the start of the 105th Congress. Andrews has been a member of the Caucus since 1992. Among the goals he cited for the Caucus during his tenure are the following: increasing membership, providing additional training for and awareness of fire prevention, continuing the crusade begun last year against church arson attacks, and helping to bring new sources of revenue to the fire services so they can fulfill their mission.

He sponsored the Presidential FEMA Reform Act and the Natural Disease Protection Partnership Act and cosponsored the Firefighter Pay Fairness Act, the Fire Safety Education Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Amendments, and the Retirement Savings and Security Act/Pension Audit Improvement Act.
