>> The NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (NFPA) named Samantha Hoffmann, a public fire and life safety officer and public information officer for the Barrie (Ontario, Canada) Fire & Emergency Service, as its 2014 Fire and Life Safety Educator of the Year. The award recognizes a fire and life safety educator who works for a local fire department, uses NFPA materials in consistent and creative ways, demonstrates excellence and innovation in reaching out to the community, and views the NFPA as the source for safety information. Ready, Set, Go! is designed by the IAFC to teach individuals who live in high-risk wildland fire areas how to best prepare themselves and their properties.
