It seems you can’t swing a limp hoseline these days without hitting a fire training cadre or company. I’m sure most mean well and want to provide good training, and don’t get me wrong, there are some amazing folks out there teaching cutting-edge techniques and time-tested basics. However, take the time really vet who you’re training from and what they have to offer—that goes for local, regional, and state training academies, too. Don’t drink the latest, greatest, coolest, Kool-Aid that comes along—you might just come away with a bitter taste and waisted time.
