The Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department in Findlay, Ohio, uses its SMEAL engine as a pumper and a tanker, depending on the water supply and the extent of the fire, explains Chief Joseph C. Adams. It is also the first-out mutual-aid vehicle. The district is 28 square miles and has a mixture of residential dwellings, light industry, and farms. Its population is 6,000.
