>> The Park Ridge (NJ) Fire Department replaced an older rear-mounted platform with a PIERCE aerial ladder. Captain William “BJ” Diedtrich says that the short outrigger spread allows for easier setup on the town’s smaller residential streets. All departments in the local mutual-aid group also have platforms if needed.

Features/Equipment:

  • Velocity chassis with 247.5-inch wheelbase and seven-seat cab;
  • CATERPILLAR C13 525-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 4000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • 100-foot aluminum aerial ladder with 1,000-pound tip load, AKRON StreamMaster ladderpipe, and 12-foot outrigger spread;
  • GORTITE roll-up compartment doors and six wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders; and
  • light and power with HARRISON 20-kw hydraulic generator, seven FRC floodlights (two at aerial tip, four on sides of body, and one facing rear), and one HANNAY electric cord reel.

>> The Chico (CA) Fire Department replaced a 750-gallon foam trailer with this CRASH RESCUE EQUIPMENT SERVICE (Fire Wagons Division) foam attack trailer because it added improved capabilities, explains Captain John Probst. The department protects a bulk fuel storage facility and a commercial airport within its jurisdiction. The trailer responds to any sizeable flammable/combustible liquid incident and can be towed by a pickup truck, a stake utility truck, or a firefighting patrol unit.

Features/Equipment:

  • 190-inch overall length and 72-inch width;
  • EDWARDS gasoline-powered foam pump;
  • 2½-inch crosslay bed and pressure manifold with four 2½-inch discharges;
  • AKRON Apollo monitor with Akron Foam 1,000-gpm nozzle;
  • PLASMAC 817-gallon foam tank; and
  • tool/equipment box.

>> The Morristown (NJ) Fire Department designed this ROSENBAUER pumper with a rear-mounted pump to keep the pump panel/operator area clear of hose and to allow effective fireground positioning, leaving the fire building’s front for the ladder truck, explains Senior Firefighter Joseph R. SanFelice II.

Features/Equipment:

  • SPARTAN Advantage FF chassis with 185-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab with 10-inch raised roof;
  • CUMMINS ISL 400-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • WATEROUS S 100 D single-stage, 2,000-gpm pump with HYPRO Foam Pro 3012 system, two five-inch rear intakes, two front bumper preconnects (one three-inch to TFT Blitzfire hand monitor, one 2½-inch wyed with one 1¾-inch trashline), two 1¾-inch rear preconnects, and TFT Monsoon RF monitor;
  • three-inch deadload in crosslay behind cab;
  • UPF 500-gallon water, 25-gallon A foam, and 75-gallon B foam tanks;
  • two wheel well sleeves for hand fire extinguishers; and
  • light and power with ONAN 10-kw hydraulic generator, HONDA three-kw portable gasoline generator, SVI Command Light, five HAVIS SHIELDS floodlights (one brow, two midship scene, and two rear on tripods), two WHELEN fixed scene lights on cab, and two HANNAY electric cord reels.
