CFSI hosts workshop on federal surplus

More than 50 congressional staffers and fire service representatives attended a workshop on federal surplus and excess personal property, hosted by the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI). Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA), founder of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, kicked off the event that gave information on how local fire departments can acquire much-needed equipment from the extensive federal equipment pool. Among the programs discussed were the Federal Surplus Personal Property Donation Program (GSA), Cooperative Fire Protection Programs (USDA Forest Service), and Rural Housing Service Programs (USDA).
