Chicago (IL) firefighters battled a wind-driver fire yesterday at a paper recycling plant at 48th and Christiana.
Driven by strong winds, the fire apparently was a prairie fire that spread to paper storage in the recycling yard, according to the department’s Twitter account. The fire went to two alarms and caused local rail service to be suspended, with concerns raised about the presence of propane tanks outside.
The fire was extinguished about two hours later, with the majority of the damage confined to the paper products in the yard, according to FOX News, and there were no injuries.
