October 27-28 The fifth annual conference of the NATIONAL FIRE AND POLICE PENSION FUND ASSOCIATION win help participants draft strong pension legislation for both the state and local levels. The conference, which will be held in Bloomington, Minn., provides an opportunity to learn about pension systems operating in fire and police organizations nationwide. The program’s topics include pre-retirement planning program; the 1986 tax law and its impact; and the fair labor standard and its effect on pensions. November 2-3 The Association of American Railroads HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SEMINAR will address the practical aspects of handling haz-mats. There’ll be a slide show on AAR’s haz mat field forces and a presentation on Chemtrec, a 2-t-hour chemical emergency transportation hot line.
