SURVIVAIR has appointed BRIAN LEAR to the position of regional sales manager responsible for sales to distributors in Southern California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Hawaii and RICK RUDOLPH to the position of regional sales manager responsible for sales in northern California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. Lear’s sales background includes selling safety equipment for U.S. Safety and Supply and Continental Safety Supply in California. Prior to coming to Survivair, Rudolph was western regional sales manager for T.I.I. Robotics.

I.E.I. (NORTH AMERICA) has appointed ALEX MILUNOVICH to the position of regional sales manager for the Midwest and western North America territory. Milunovich, who will work out of I.E.I.’s Kansas City, Missouri, office, has 16 years of experience in the fire protection industry.

STANDARD SAFETY EQUIPMENT CORPORATION has promoted STEVE MEDVES to the position of national sales manager. Medves has held numerous sales positions with Standard Safety during his 15-year tenure with the protective clothing and equipment manufacturer. Most recently, he served as eastern regional sales manager.

DAN McCANN has been named director of sales and marketing of ECCO (ELECTRONIC CONTROLS COMPANY) of Boise, Idaho. In his new position, McCann, who previously was national sales manager for ECCO, will oversee customer service, sales, marketing, and new product development.

CAIRNS AND BROTHER has consolidated with the Canadian company CAIRNS PYROTEX, whose management, key production, and quality control personnel will move to Cairns and Brother’s home office in the United States. With the consolidation comes an enhanced customer service base for Cairns in Canada; a French telephone network has been established to continue the access to the Canadian market that characterizes Cairns Pyrotex.

FIRESon® has been named to lead the design team charged with developing the next version of the National Information Reporting System (NFIRS 5). Under the contract, FireSoft will work with the U.S. Fire Administration, the National Fire Information Council, and Technical Research Education System Planning Associates, Inc., to create a simplified, all-incident reporting system that will meet the needs of federal, state, and local governments. A release date for NFIRS 5 has not been scheduled.

As part of an overall corporate restructuring, SCOTT AVIATION has relocated a number of personnel from Scott headquarters in Lancaster, New York, to the Scott production center in Monroe, North Carolina. The intention is to increase customer service, speed product development, and permit the development of special certification programs.

Late last year U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Ron Brown met with representatives of MAGELLAN SYSTEMS CORPORATION of San Dimas, California, and the Japanese corporations Nippondense, Toshiba, and Xanavi and announced the signing of an agreement through which Magellan will develop, build, and export an advanced global positioning system (GPS) receiver for vehicle navigation.
