EMS steering committee seeks peer reviewers for consensus statement
The steering committee for the consensus statement on the Role of Out-Of-Hospital Emergency Medical Services in Primary Injury Prevention is asking for volunteers from all components of the out-of-hospital emergency medical care community to review the consensus statement drafted by the committee at a meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in March. The consensus statement, the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) explains, “should serve as a template for EMS primary injury prevention education and practice and will be submitted for consideration for inclusion in future revisions of the National EMS Education and Practice Blueprint.”
The project, organized by the NAEMSP and sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Maternal Child Health Bureau, was undertaken to determine the consensus of the national EMS community on what the essential and desirable roles for EMS organizations and individual EMS providers should be in the area of preventing primary injuries, according to the NAEMSP.
