Fast-Moving Fire Guts Long Island (NY) Home

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 13, 2021 the Dix Hills (NY) Fire Department was alerted for a reported residential structure fire on Half Hollow Road. Upon arrival, units were met with fire through the roof of the large two-story home, and a working fire was transmitted by command.

Mutual aid was brought in from Greenlawn, Melville, Huntington Manor, and Deer Park Fire Departments. Multiple attack lines were put into operation.

Crews battled the fire for approximately an hour before it was placed under control. All occupants of the home were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported. The fast moving blaze gutted the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation by officials.
