Life Scan Wellness Centers to Show ‘Burned’ Documentary

Life Scan Wellness Centers is hosting a national showing of the documentary “Burned” at Miami Dade Fire Rescue Local 1403 Fire Hall in IAFF 12th District. The film showcases the advocacy of Diane Cotter and her efforts to shine light on the issue of contamination of carcinogenic chemicals in firefighters’ protective gear. It also deals with findings from the research on this subject, spotlighting the work of Dr. Graham Peaslee from Notre Dame University and the support of the International Association of Fire Fighters under the leadership of General President Ed Kelly.

Following the showing, a panel discussion and Q & A will be moderated by IAFF 12 DVP Walt Dix and Life Scan Deputy CEO Chief Todd LeDuc (Ret.) with the Film Producer Elijah Yetter-Bowman, Diane Cotter, Dr. Graham Peaslee, and Dr. Danny Whu, former Miami Dade County (FL) Firefighter and now Chief Medical Officer for the IAFF. Additionally, this session will be recorded and released for national consumption at no cost to increase awareness of this critical issue for the fire service.
