Firefighters warned not to wear plastic watch bands during operations
There have been reports of serious injuries to firefighters who were wearing watches with plastic bands during firefighting operations, according to the autumn issue of THE VOLUNTEER, the journal for the country fire services of South Australia.
The problem involves the melting of the plastic bands due to the extreme heat conditions at the fire. This has led to severe burns, gangrene, and loss of limbs.
