IAFC accepting nominations for 1995 awards programs

The International Association of Fire Chiefs is accepting nominations for the following award programs:

Benjamin Franklin Fire Service Award for Valor. Cosponsored by Motorola, Inc. Candidates for this award must be nominated by the department chief and must have saved a human life during 1994. All firefighters–paid, volunteer, and on- and off-duty–are eligible. IAFC membership is not required. Nominations are evaluated on factors such as personal effort and the use of available staff and equipment. Deadline for nominations is June 30, 1995. The winner (and spouse) and the nominating chief (and spouse) will be given round-trip airfare to Louisville, Kentucky, the site of Fire Rescue International, which will be held September 9-13, 1995, and two nights` hotel accommodations, as well as a limited-edition commemorative medal to be awarded at the annual conference.

Fire Service Award for Excellence. Cosponsored by U.S. Safety and Engineering Corporation. This award recognizes innovations and achievements in managing resources to reduce loss of life and property from fire and other emergencies. The program, project, or activity must have been in place for a minimum of one year. Deadline for nominations is July 10, 1995. The winner will be awarded a limited-edition display-size trophy during a special ceremony at Fire-Rescue International.
