The Decatur Township (IN) Fire Department protects a rapidly growing rural and suburban bedroom community. This PIERCE pumper helps protect a new industrial park, too, according to Chief William Dale Henson. The department specified a commercial chassis for easier servicing and lower cost, and the raised roof allows firefighters more headroom when they stand up to exit. The top-mount pump panel allows better visibility, particularly when operating on highways. The township occupies 33 square miles and has a population of 24,000.
