The INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF FIRE SERVICE INSTRUCTORS appointed Chief Daniel L. Jones of the Chapel Hill (NC) Fire Department chairman of the board at its annual meeting at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Indiana, in April. Other appointments include Fairfield (CT) Fire Department Chief Daniel B. C. Gardiner as first vice chair and Newark (NJ) Fire Department Chief Training Officer Harry R. Carter, Ph. D. as second vice chair.

Additionally, the following were ap-pointed to the board of directors for two-year terms: Donald L. Cox, director of the firefighting and emergency operations division; Beth Nevel, director of the training and education division; Ted Pagels, director of the administration and management division; and Mary K. Marchone, director of the prevention, protection, and public education division. San Francisco (CA) Fire Department Captain Jerry Grey was appointed western regional director and Lieutenant John Searle of Airport Rescue Firefighting at T. F. Green Airport, Providence, Rhode Island, was appointed eastern regional director, both to two-year terms.
