TORRINGTON — A local fire official said three firefighters were injured and at least seven people were displaced in a Wall Street residence fire on Saturday night.
A 911 caller reported the fire in the 50 block of Wall Street to dispatch at around 8:30 p.m., according to Fire Chief Eric Borden. He added that on arrival, firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the second and third floor.
Borden said that due to the building’s “various construction designs,” firefighters found it difficult to fight the flames and multiple surrounding towns responded to aid them.
Red Cross is assisting the residents who are now displaced, Borden said. None of them were injured, he added.
Borden said that two firefighters were evaluated at the scene for minor injuries, and another had to be transported to a nearby hospital.
