Two Women Dead Following DC House Fire



According to a report from WUSA, two women were killed early Tuesday morning after a fire erupted in their two-story building in Northwest Washington, D.C.

DC Fire and EMS (DCFEMS) crews were dispatched for a report of smoke showing from a two-story detached home on 8th Street Northwest, off of Elder Street Northwest, just before 3:15 a.m. 

DCFEMS trucks arrived to find smoke coming from the 2nd floor, as first reported.

At about 3:20 a.m., DCFEMS discovered one victim on the second floor. Seven minutes later, firefighters found the second victim. Both women were removed from the building, but were later pronounced dead.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The victims’ names or ages have not yet been released, DCFEMS Chief John Donnelly said during a media briefing.

Fire investigators are at the scene investigating the cause of the fire.
