TX Captain Hospitalized After Massive Two-Alarm Warehouse Fire

According to a report from ABC13, a captain with the Houston (TX) Fire Department (HFD) was hospitalized with chest pains and dehydration during a two-alarm fire that erupted in a storage warehouse in the northeast section of the city Wednesday evening. HFD Chief Samuel Peña said the captain’s condition has since stabilized.

The HFD received reports of flames at the warehouse at 4847 Blaffer, just off the North 610 Loop.

A social media post from the department said that, just after 8:30 p.m., the fire had been extinguished.

HFD Captain Sedrick Robinette said about 500 bales, each 10 feet long and weighing 1,100 pounds, were in flames.

In addition, 20 trailers, each 53 feet long, burned. Investigators suspect that cardboard fueled the fire.

More than 100 HFD personnel were on scene. No air quality issues were reported and there were no reported injuries to warehouse employees.

Peña said the warehouse had 30 trucking bays.
