Manchester (NH) firefighters rescued a woman from a seven-vehicle crash Tuesday morning only to have a firefighter get injured in a subsequent crash.
According to WMUR, firefighters pulled the patient, who sustained life-threatening injuries, from the initial crash on Interstate 93.
The report cited officials saying that a pickup truck driving through the emergency scene lost control, hit a guardrail, and struck one of the fire apparatus and two of the vehicles involved in the original crash.
A crewmember reportedly was able to alert the officer on the engine, who narrowly avoided being struck; however, the aforementioned member was struck and injured. He was transported, treated, and released.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, Manchester firefighters dealt with an incident in which a woman who fell into a dumpster had to be removed from a gabage truck after being compacted multiple times. Miraculously, the patient sustained only minor injuries.
